Physical Education Course Overview
The Temecula Preparatory School Physical Education Department believes that each student can achieve excellence regardless of size, coordination, body type, or other physical capabilities. As a department we are concerned with developing a child’s positive attitude toward physical activity that will last a lifetime. Students will be engaged in a fun, cooperative, activity based Physical Education class Monday-Friday. The class will include activities and sports that are presented in a comfortable, non-competitive environment. The goal will be for all students to have fun while improving their physical skills, fitness levels, and social development.
Weight Training Course Overview
An introductory course designed to help each student: improve muscular strength, gain knowledge and understanding of weight training theory and practice, and develop a personalized weight training program. All students will be provided with the necessary training on each specific exercise so that the exercise process can be safe and productive. Students are encouraged to remain positive in order to maintain a good training atmosphere. It is important to realize that everyone progresses through this course at his or her own rate, as they work toward individual goals. Safety is always given the first priority in this class.
About Mr. Karg
Mr. Karg was born and raised in San Diego, California. As a youth he was very involved in sports and played soccer, basketball, and baseball year-round. He attended University City High School where he played Varsity Football and Baseball. He graduated in 1994 and moved to Northern California where he attended Chico State University as a Psychology major. After taking various courses he realized he still had a strong interest in athletics and had always wanted to become a teacher. Mr. Karg graduated from Chico State University in 1999 with a B.A. in Physical Education/Teacher Education. He decided to move back to San Diego and attend San Diego State University to receive his teaching credential. After one semester of student teaching he was hired in 2000 at Grant Middle School in Escondido, to teach Physical Education. To further his education he decided to go back to school and earn his Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2003. This gave him an excellent foundation to build on in Physical Education and the teaching profession as a whole. After 7 years of making the commute from Murrieta to Escondido he decided to look for a teaching job closer to home. Mr. Karg accepted a position as Physical Education Teacher and Middle School Athletic Director with Temecula Preparatory School in 2008. He looks forward to many years of helping build the athletic programs, teaching students the importance of a physical active lifestyle, and helping them to achieve their maximum potential in preparation for college.
On a personal level, Mr. Karg is married and has two sons and a daughter, all of whom attended Temecula Preparatory School. When he has some free time he enjoys spending it with his family and friends, exercising, listening to music, and traveling.
